Xiaoqiu Wang
Xiaoqiu Wang is a founding member of ChappelWang PLLC. Her practice
is focused primarily in the areas of International Business
and Immigration and Nationality Law. After earning a doctorate
from Duke University School of Law, Ms. Wang joined the New
York law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where she gained
substantial experience in corporate finance through syndicated
loans, asset-backed debt financing, and private placement. She
also worked on SEC filings, due diligence, and joint ventures.
Although her major focus now is international business and immigration,
Ms. Wang continues to assist ChappelWangs clients with
their corporate matters.
Ms. Wang is one of the two law students to ever win a full scholarship
from Harvard University's Harvard Yen-Chin Institute. She earned
an LLM in International Banking from Boston University School
of Law and an SJD in US Federal Banking Regulations from Duke
University School of Law. Prior to earning these two advanced
degrees, she obtained her first law degree from Xiamen University
in China, graduating third in her class.
In addition to her law practice, Ms. Wang frequently writes
and teaches on a variety of legal topics at seminars in the
US and China. She authored "An Overlook of US Banking Institutions
and Regulation" (in Mandarin Chinese), which was included
in an influential, twelve-volume series about the American legal
system, published by China Law Publisher in 2000. Her most recent
article discusses the new immigration law's provision for employer
sanctions for hiring unauthorized foreign workers.
Ms. Wang was recently named a Rising Star by Washington Law & Politics, a legal journal for the state of Washington. The list of Rising Stars comprises Washington State's top up-and-coming attorneys and represents only 2.5% of the state's lawyers.
Ms. Wang is a member of the Washington State Bar Association
and the New York State Bar Association and is one of the founding
members of the US-China Lawyers Society.
Born in Chongqing, China, Ms. Wang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
