David R. Chappel
David Chappel is a founding member of ChappelWang PLLC. His
practice is focused on International Business and Immigration
and Nationality Law. His clients include banks, government agencies,
a variety of private companies, both large and small, and numerous
individuals and families. For seven years he served as Special Assistant Attorney General for immigration issues in Washington State.
For the first ten years of his practice, Mr. Chappel concentrated
on litigation. He is a seasoned trial lawyer, having served
as a criminal prosecutor, defense attorney and civil litigator
in federal and state courts. He was appointed and served for
six years as Judge Pro Tem, adjudicating civil and criminal
cases. Continuing to accept litigation matters, he launched
his international practice in 1989 in response to the Northwest's
growing ties to the Pacific Rim. He sees ChappelWang PLLC as
well positioned to take advantage of this growth. Mr. Chappel
works with US-based clients to target business opportunities
abroad, as well as assisting overseas clients to obtain visas
and conduct business in the United States. His wide-ranging
practice includes business formation, contracts negotiation,
dispute resolution, and visa applications for investors, employees,
families, educators, scientists, physicians, artists, entertainers,
and fashion models.
Mr. Chappel obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the Seattle
University School of Law in 1979, and received a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Religious Philosophy from the University of California
at Santa Barbara in 1971. He is a member of the Seattle-King
County, Washington State, American Bar Associations, the American
Immigration Lawyers Association and various international organizations.
He is admitted to practice before the International Court of
Trade, the United States Supreme Court, several other Federal
Court Jurisdictions and the Washington State Supreme Court.
In 2007, David was named a Super Lawyer by Washington Law & Politics. The journal's Super Lawyers were chosen based on a variety of factors, including verdict and settlement record, experience, and education. The Super Lawyers selected represent only five percent of the attorneys licensed to practice in Washington.
